 Bishop Shepard Little

1551-53 South Tripp Ave.

On December 31, 1959, twenty-two baptized believers in Christ assembled themselves at 1449 South Tripp Avenue in the home of Elder and Sis. Shepard Little.  From this dedicated group, an honest and sincere desire for spiritual leadership surfaced.

"How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? and how shall they preach, except they be sent?" --Roman 10:14.

Elder Shepard Little knew that God had a special calling on his life, and he humbly surrender to the work of God, to “feed His sheep”.

Our first church service was held on Sunday, January 10, 1960. The Pastor’s message was “Be Still and Know That I Am God”, Psalms 46:10. The blessings of God was great and our little place was filled to its capacity. On the following Sundays, it was overflowing and this necessitated the enlarging of our borders by leasing the adjoining storefront.
